I've mentioned the words 'tale' a bunch of times already, but thanks to this game's lower budget, it feels more closer to Prince of Persia's series identity, of it being a tale of an adventurer, rather than a big blockbuster movie like the mainline version.

While the story is a step down from the mainline Forgotten Sands, the atmosphere isn't as big of a drop-off. Throughout all my PoP threads, I've focused on what I believe to be the series' main two pillars, atmosphere and movement.

Just as the mainline game disappointed me, this one also doesn't try to bridge the gap between adventurous Sands of Time Prince and Godsmacky Warrior Within Prince, though with it being a Wii game, the Prince looks closer to his PS2 self than his PS3 counterpart, which I think is a good thing. It is a very midquel story that is specifically made with the intention of not affecting the rest of the series, going as far as not even having a properly named antagonist. He accidentally unleashes evil across this kingdom and has to undo his mistake. The story here is that the Prince bought a genie, Zahra, at a marketplace, and follows her in hopes of a kingdom of his own. Huge thanks to the Dolphin Emulator for making this playthrough even possible.Īs mentioned above, the Forgotten Sands games are essentially 'Tales of the Prince', with the story following events that don't really contribute much to the overall series, but act as a decent excuse for the games' mechanics to unfold. What you'll be reading here isn't just my first time playing through Forgotten Sands Wii, but my first time playing a Wii game period. They're basically supplementary games that weren't must plays unless you really wanted more Prince of Persia, which I thankfully did. They all contain one-off tales following the Prince and his disaster of the week. The Forgotten Sands games all take place within the 7 year gap between Ubisoft's first two Prince of Persia games.

I'll be going over the Wii version first, with the PSP version put within spoiler tags at the bottom, just to avoid making this post too long. To top off my Prince of Persia series run through, I thought a nice and simple 2D game, in the form of PSP's Forgotten Sands, would be a nice end of series snack. Many people in my previous Forgotten Sands thread mentioned that the Wii version was better than its console counterpart, so I was excited to give it a go. Upon reaching what I thought would be my last PoP game, Forgotten Sands, I realised that I could extend my series playthrough with two additional games, thanks to Ubisoft creating four completely different games under the same name. After falling in love with Sands of Time, I decided that I'd be going through all of Ubisoft's subsequent Prince of Persia games. Back in June, while slowly checking off PS3 games off my backlog, I decided that I'd finally go through Ubisoft's HD remaster of the Prince of Persia Trilogy.
